Use this checklist to make cashback tracking more reliable on higher‑value orders. Tracking depends on store terms and whether your shopping trip is tracked correctly.
Before you buy (do this first)
- Log in to ShopBack and confirm you’re using the right account.
- Read the store’s Cashback Tips / terms on the ShopBack store page (especially exclusions and coupon rules).
- Turn off ad blockers/content blockers/VPNs (or allowlist ShopBack and the retailer site for this purchase).
- Update your ShopBack app (and the retailer’s app, if you’ll be buying in-app).
- On desktop: consider using the ShopBack Browser Extension so you get an activation reminder and can see the tracking indicator.
When you click through ShopBack
- Tap Shop Now / Activate Cashback and wait for the redirect to the retailer.
- Stay on the platform you were redirected to:
- If you are redirected to the retailer’s website, complete your purchase there.
- If the store requires in-app purchase and ShopBack redirects you to the app, complete the purchase in that same app session.
- If you are redirected via ShopBack's in-app browser (e.g. IAB), complete your purchase purchase there.
- Switching platforms mid-journey can break tracking.
- Complete your purchase in one session where possible. Avoid leaving the tab/app to browse other sites.
- Do not click on other ads, cashback sites, influencers’ links, or deal links for the same retailer after clicking through ShopBack. This may overwrite the tracking source.
At checkout (avoid these common tracking breakers)
- Don’t use coupon/promo codes that aren’t listed on ShopBack (unless the store terms say they’re allowed).
- Don’t click third‑party ads/offers during checkout (this can change attribution).
- Don’t manually edit the URL.
Right after you pay
- Save your order confirmation (email/receipt) and note the order number.
- Screenshot the confirmation page (order number + total + date/time).
- Check Cashback Activity after the store’s tracking window:
- Cashback often appears within 48 hours, but some stores can take up to 7 days.
- For travel, cashback is typically validated after the stay checkout date.
If your cashback still hasn’t tracked
- Check the store’s tracking period on the ShopBack store page and wait until that time has passed.
- Then submit a Missing Cashback report:
- In the app: My Cashback → Check here if your Cashback hasn’t shown up yet
(or go to Support → Request help on Missing Cashback) - On web: Account icon → Cashback Overview → Report a Missing Cashback
Have this ready to upload/include (it helps speed things up):
- Retailer name
- Order number / booking reference
- Order date
- Order total and currency
- Screenshot/PDF of the confirmation or receipt
- Any coupon code used (if any)
Note: Missing cashback investigations can take up to 120 days, and submission windows vary by store (commonly 30–90 days)
